Light    It requires bright, indirect light. It will also appreciate a few hours of direct sun in the morning or late afternoon. In a darker space it will survive, but its growth will be slower.

Water    in moderation. Allow the soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Watering approximately every 7–10 days is sufficient; in winter, it requires less frequent watering, around every 10–14 days. Always check that the soil has dried out before watering. It does not like constantly moist soil, as this can lead to root rot.

Humidity    Loves higher humidity (over 40%), but adapts nicely to normal humidity.

Common problems and solutions

1. Slow growth or pale leaves – The plant may need more light or nutrients. Try moving it to a brighter location and fertilizing regularly, about once a month.

2. Dry leaf tips – This is likely a sign of low humidity. Move the plant to a more humid spot or use a humidifier.

3. Sticky droplets – This is normal for the plant, as in nature it helps attract insects that protect it from pests. You can wipe the droplets off with a damp cloth. If this happens frequently, check the plant for pests.

4. Plant not growing  - not enough sun or nutrients or both, bring it closer to the window or add some NPK fertilizer with the next watering.

5. Pests - thrips do love this plant. the leaves will be weirdly shaped and colored leaves, sometime with silver sheen or brown spots. Try washing the leaves and use neem oil.

Pro tip     For even more beautiful and larger leaves, provide him a support, you can choose coconut fiber pole or sphagnum moss pole.
