PLANT CARE

Light    Loves very bright locations with plenty of direct sunlight. It thrives best in full sun, which encourages compact and healthy growth and colorful spines. Indoors, place it as close as possible to a bright window. In summer, it can also be placed outdoors.

Water    Water sparingly. Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter. This is a cactus and does not tolerate overwatering well – excess moisture can quickly lead to root rot. If the cacti become soft or translucent, this is often a sign of too much water.

Humidity    Feels great in normal household humidity. It prefers a dry environment and does not like high humidity or misting.

Do you need to improve humidity level in your place? Here are our recommendations.

Repotting and feeding    It will do best in our Desert soil mix. During the growing season, you can feed it once a month with a balanced NPK fertilizer.

Toxicity    The plant is not toxic, making it suitable for homes with small children and pets.

Common problems and solutions

  1. Soft or wrinkled stems – Most often a sign of overwatering or root rot. Reduce watering immediately and check the roots. Repot or cut away any rotten parts if necessary.

  2. Stretched growth or pale spines – The plant is not getting enough light. Move it to a brighter spot.

  3. Slow growth – This species grows slowly by nature. Make sure it has enough light and a suitable substrate.

Pro tip    In winter, place it in a cooler, dry location, ideally around 10 °C. This resting period can encourage flowering in spring. During this time, do not water unless the cactus starts to wrinkle due to lack of water.
