Light    The plant thrives best in a bright spot with indirect light. It can tolerate slightly lower light levels, but with more light it will grow faster and develop larger leaves. Avoid harsh midday direct sun, as it can scorch the leaves.

Water    moderately. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. It needs less water in winter. Overwatering can cause root rot. If the soil remains wet for a long time, the plant may not be getting enough light or may be planted in an unsuitable substrate.

Common problems and solutions

1. Small leaves – The plant needs more light and support for climbing. Move it to a brighter location and provide a support made of coco coir or sphagnum moss.

2. Yellowing leaves – Most often a sign of overwatering or lack of nutrients. Check drainage and reduce watering if needed, or add a small amount of fertilizer at the next watering.

3. Slow growth – The plant needs more light or nutrients. Move it to a brighter spot or feed it with a gentler fertilizer.

4. Pests – Thrips and spider mites are particularly fond of this plant. Leaves may appear misshapen or discolored, sometimes with a silvery sheen, brown spots or covered in fine webbing. Try washing the leaves and treating the plant with neem oil.
