Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Happy Leaf’, also known as ‘Manjula pothos’, is one of the most popular trailing plants with variegated foliage. Variegation is a natural mutation that causes certain parts of the leaves to lack chlorophyll. While plants with white markings can sometimes be a bit more demanding, the Manjula pothos is remarkably hardy and well suited for beginners. Its beautifully marbled leaves can cascade gracefully from a shelf or climb upwards along a moss pole. Happy leaves, happy us! 😀

PLANT CARE

Svjetlo    The plant feels best in a bright spot with indirect light. It can tolerate slightly lower light levels, but with more light it will grow faster, and the leaves will be larger and more strongly variegated. Avoid harsh midday direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.

Voda    Water moderately. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. It needs less water in winter. The plant is quite adaptable, but overwatering can lead to root rot. If the soil stays wet for a long time, the plant may not be getting enough light or may not be planted in a suitable substrate.

Toksičnost    The plant is toxic, so keep it out of reach of pets and children.

Uobičajeni problemi i rješenja

  1. Yellow leaves – Most often a sign of lack of light, overwatering or a lack of nutrients. Move the plant to a brighter spot, check drainage and reduce watering if needed, or add a small amount of fertilizer at the next watering.
  2. Slow growth – The plant needs more light or nutrients. Move it to a brighter spot or feed it with a gentler fertilizer.
  3. Small leaves – The plant needs more light and support for climbing. Move it to a brighter location and provide a support made of coco coir or sphagnum moss.
  4. Pest - thrips and meally bugs do love this plant. The leaves will be weirdly shaped and colored, sometimes with silver sheen or brown spots. Try washing the leaves and use neem oil.

Profesionalni savjet    Regular pruning will encourage fuller, bushier growth — and you’ll get plenty of cuttings to propagate, too.
